__________________________________________________________ Tour Spiel: Photographs from the Road October 16, 2000 - January 7, 2001. Curated by Erik Auerbach. "Tour Spiel - Photographs from the Road" collects the personal documents created by a variety of musicians, roadies, managers and fellow travelers in one giant photo diary that spans the globe. Life on the road has been romanticized for as long as bands have been traveling the world spreading the word about their music. Whether a hometown favorite or a corporate sponsored million seller, life on the road isn't always what it is mythologized to be. In fact, sometimes it can be completely boring. As this show proves, many of our favorite musicians are also excellent image makers. Many have also established themselves as photographers in their own right. Sometimes the simple things one finds are what keeps it all going - a sunset, truck stops, soft ball, skateboarding, hanging out, or eating a good meal. The glamour can wear off and the mundanity can set in, but the sense of mission keeps the van rolling, or for Michael Jackson - the fleets of vans rolling. __________________________________________________________ Aquarius home | exhibits archive
